Holland & Knight Named A Citizenship Award Honoree for Partnership with Local Nonprofit, Rebuilding Together of Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON (May 7, 2014) - Holland & Knight has been selected by Washington Business Journal as a citizenship award honoree for its partnership with the local non-profit organization, Rebuilding Together of Washington, D.C. (RTDC). The publication annually recognizes area-based businesses that partner with nonprofits whose mission is to benefit families and children. These partnerships are then judged on both the philanthropic work and the volunteer hours committed by the business's employees.
Holland & Knight has been partnering with RTDC since 1983. RTDC preserves and revitalizes low-income homes and community facilities in Washington, making free home repairs for many homeowners, especially veterans, the elderly, the disabled and those with young children.
Every year, Holland & Knight lawyers and staff from both its Washington, D.C., and Tysons offices contribute funding for sponsorship of a home in need of repair. In addition to raising money, the firm's employees volunteer their time at the sponsored home during a two-week period in the spring.
Holland & Knight's efforts will be recognized at the Washington Business Journal's Corporate Philanthropy Awards ceremony on June 19, 2014.
