NEW YORK (June 18, 2014) – Holland & Knight advised the lenders and Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior, S.A. (Bladex) as lead arranger and administrative agent, in an $80 million loan to Panama's Banco Aliado. The deal closed on June 17.
Bladex, a supranational bank established by the central banks of Latin American and Caribbean countries to promote foreign trade finance and economic integration, led the syndicate of 13 banks in the loan. The primary lenders included Itaú, CorpBanca, First Citizens, Banco de Bogotá, BICSA, Daycoval, Davivienda, Global Bank, Israel Discount Bank, Bancaribe, BAC Florida and Mercantil Commercebank.
“The transaction represented another example of the strong growth of the Bladex Latin America syndicated loan business,” said Holland & Knight New York partner Stephen Double, who advised the administrative agent and the lenders as to New York law in the transaction. Mr. Double was assisted by associate Carlos Meza.
