Holland & Knight Named Native American Law Firm of the Year by U.S. News – Best Lawyers
MIAMI (November 2, 2015) – Holland & Knight announced today that it has been named "Law Firm of the Year" in Native American law by U.S. News – Best Lawyers in its 2016 "Best Law Firms" listings.
Only one firm in each of the more than 70 nationally ranked practice areas received this recognition. The rigorous evaluation process included the collection of client and lawyer evaluations and peer reviews from leading attorneys in their fields. Only those firms with the most impressive overall performance were chosen.
"We are honored by our selection as law firm of the year for Native American law," said Jerry Levine, leader of Holland & Knight's Indian Law practice group. "We have great respect for the traditional values that set tribes apart and are committed to providing the same high quality representation demanded in other governmental and economic development settings so that tribes can prosper in today's and tomorrow's world."
"We thank our clients for entrusting us with their most critical tribal, state and federal legal issues," added James Meggesto, deputy practice leader. "We look forward to continuing to serve them to the best of our ability."
Holland & Knight's Indian Law Practice Group has a thorough understanding of the legal challenges facing Native American Indian tribes. Its more than 20 attorneys and other professionals help tribes protect their sovereignty; develop reservation economies, including hotel, retail, casino, energy, utility and infrastructure development; preserve basic human rights, such as access to health care; and enhance tribal governance and business structures. The group maintains a visible presence in Washington, D.C., and in state capitals advocating on behalf of tribal clients. The team includes former members of Congress, congressional staff and officials from important state agencies.
