Wifredo Ferrer Honored with Equal Justice Leadership Award from Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc.

Holland & Knight partner Wifredo Ferrer was the recipient of the Legal Services of Greater Miami Inc.’s (LSGMI) 2017 Equal Justice Leadership Award at the organization’s Annual Heart of Giving Celebration on May 4.

The Equal Justice Leadership Award recognizes excellence in protecting the rights of South Florida’s most vulnerable individuals and families. The Heart of Giving annual event is one of South Florida’s largest legal networking soirees, attracting more than 450 prominent legal, business and community leaders including judges, attorneys, executives and elected officials.

LSGMI is the largest provider of broad-based civil legal services for the poor in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, and is recognized in the state and in the nation as a model legal services program.

Mr. Ferrer leads Holland & Knight's Global Compliance and Investigations Team. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ferrer served nearly seven years as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. In his role as a U.S. Attorney, he oversaw some of the most complex and significant prosecutions handled by the U.S. Department of Justice. During his tenure, he created the Violence Reduction Partnership connecting his office with members of the community to reduce violence through enforcement, prevention and successful reentry of returning citizens.
