Overview
Lucia Benabentos is a financial transactions attorney in Holland & Knight's Miami office. Ms. Benabentos focuses her practice on structuring complex finance and capital markets transactions, both domestic and cross-border, with a particular focus on the energy and infrastructure industry in the U.S. and abroad. She represents financial institutions, corporate borrowers and project developers.
In addition, Ms. Benabentos gained extensive experience from practicing with international law firms in New York and Miami, where she represented clients on a wide variety of complex, cross-border financial transactions involving energy, infrastructure and transportation financings, including syndicated lending, capital markets and project bond transactions.
Ms. Benabentos is passionate about helping her clients achieve innovative legal and strategic solutions that support their business goals and advance energy development to address the global energy deficit. She believes that energy is not only foundational to economic growth but also a critical enabler of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and digital infrastructure. Her work is driven by a commitment to shaping sustainable and forward-looking energy solutions that power the future.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Benabentos was deputy general counsel at a leading privately owned, U.S.-based renewable energy and sustainability services company, focusing on solar power generation and storage solutions, with more than 32 gigawatts (GWs) in projects in various stages of development in the U.S., Europe, India and Japan. Ms. Benabentos was responsible for overseeing global operations and strategic transactions, including more than $1 billion in corporate and project-level financings, supporting all phases of development, acquisition, construction and operation, as well as mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and internal controls.
Previously, Ms. Benabentos was senior counsel at a public global energy infrastructure company focusing on power generation and liquefied natural gas (LNG) distribution. She was responsible for all public company matters and filings, more than $7 billion in strategic transactions and $5 billion corporate and project-level financings, as well as corporate and internal controls matters.
