Overview

Jeremy Ches is a litigation and dispute resolution attorney in Holland & Knight's Jacksonville office. Mr. Ches focuses his practice on healthcare litigation, complex commercial disputes and asset recovery.

A strategic advocate in complex disputes, Mr. Ches helps companies and executives navigate high-stakes business disputes with clarity, confidence and strategic focus. He brings deep experience handling sophisticated commercial litigation, most recently managing high-risk litigation for a more than $30 billion/year healthcare and health solutions enterprise, including payment disputes, putative class actions, government investigations and regulatory questions, helping mitigate enterprise risk by almost $1 billion throughout the last 10 years. In that role, he also founded and led an affirmative recovery program that leverages the legal system to recoup financial losses caused by fraud, waste and abuse, anticompetitive behaviors, business torts and other wrongful conduct committed against the enterprise. Whether a case calls for decisive litigation or a more efficient alternative path, he guides clients toward solutions that protect their interests and advance their business goals.

Known for his ability to simplify complexity, his business judgment and litigation instincts, Mr. Ches works closely with business leaders, management teams and all relevant stakeholders to build legal strategies that reflect the client's philosophy, risk tolerance and financial objectives. He considers the immediate legal questions as well as the long‑term business impacts, interpersonal dynamics and competitive pressures that shape outcomes. His extensive courtroom background and experience managing complex commercial matters allow clients to maintain operational focus while pursuing or defending litigation. Further, his success in building and managing a robust enterprise-wide affirmative recovery program enables clients to convert their own legal departments into strategic assets that drive revenue.

In addition to his commercial litigation work, Mr. Ches has substantial experience with federal and state regulatory frameworks, including:

  • Affordable Care Act (ACA)
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • False Claims Act (FCA)
  • deceptive and unfair trade practice statutes
  • Stark Law and anti‑kickback statutes
  • Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations
  • insurance and privacy laws
  • Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)

Before going in-house, Mr. Ches was a partner in Holland & Knight's Jacksonville office, where he represented product manufacturers, financial institutions, developers, transportation companies and other domestic and international businesses in complex commercial litigation and arbitration matters, including contractual disputes, business torts, employment issues and fraud claims. He was also active in Holland & Knight's Mickey Rooney Elder Financial Abuse Pro Bono Project, where he provided legal services to elder adults to resolve damages caused by financial elder abuse.

Mr. Ches started his legal career as an assistant state attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit in Florida. In this role, he managed hundreds of cases from inception through resolution, including handling all hearings, depositions and trials. Here, he developed a seasoned approach to managing litigation, implementing strategies and mitigating risks to effectuate successful case resolutions.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Ches has held several leadership roles and remains active in a variety of community and professional associations.
