Overview

Jeffrey Fried is a financial services attorney based in Holland & Knight's New York office.

Mr. Fried has deep experience representing banks and other financial institutions in the financing and restructuring of permanent, construction, mezzanine and leasehold loans, including agented and syndicated loan facilities. His practice is particularly focused on real estate finance, with transactions spanning a wide range of asset classes in New York and across the U.S.

Clients appreciate Mr. Fried's practical and reasonable approach to matters. Notably, he has represented lenders in connection with some of the most prominent real estate projects in the country, including major financings related to an upscale 28-acre mixed-use development on Manhattan's West Side, luxury high-rise condominium developments in Manhattan, and large-scale mixed-use and commercial projects nationwide. His background also includes advising administrative agents and lead lenders in construction financing and large syndicated credit facilities for high-profile developments.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Fried was an attorney at a multi-service international law firm in its New York office.

Representative Experience

  • Represented a major investment bank as administrative agent and lead lender in a $630 million construction and tax-exempt bond financing for an ownership group led by a global real estate firm in connection with the development of a $1 billion Grand Avenue mixed-use complex
  • Represented a global investment bank as lender in connection with a $40 million loan to a major real estate developer secured by vacant land on Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan; $9.6 million of the $40 million loan was new financing for the property, and the remainder was refinancing and assumption of pre-existing debt
  • Represented a major financial institution in a syndicated construction loan of up to $750 million to a major New York-based real estate developer for a luxury condo project, which involved an 80-story tower containing 815 units and more than 100,000 square feet of outdoor and indoor amenities
  • Represented a major financial institution as administrative agent and lender in connection with a $1.5 billion financing for the retail component of the Hudson Yards project in New York
  • Represented a major financial institution as lender in connection with a $244 million committed term loan facility to a private real estate developer, secured by commercial real estate in Los Angeles
  • Represented a major financial institution in a $350 million loan for the construction of a property located in midtown Manhattan
  • Represented the agent and lead lender on ground-up construction financings to a major New York-based real estate developer regarding residential condominium and rental buildings in the Riverside South project located in Manhattan
  • Represented a global investment bank in a $100 million asset securitization transaction for a prominent talent agency involving the future cash flows from commissions generated by the agency's representation of talent
  • Represented a major financial institution in connection with approximately $100 million in mortgage loans to a major real estate developer, secured by residential and commercial condominium units located in Chicago
  • Represented a major financial institution in connection with a $110 million mortgage loan, the proceeds of which were utilized to refinance existing debt and pay for construction costs in connection with a mall located in New Jersey
  • Represented a major financial institution in connection with a $125 million mortgage loan to major real estate developer secured by a spa and golf course facility located in Florida
