Emma S. Hagle

Emma Scott Hagle represents national nonprofits in trust and estate matters involving contested and uncontested matured bequests. Her proactive approach helps honor donor intent, accelerate distributions and increase annual revenue from planned gifts for charitable, medical, religious and educational organizations. Based in Washington, D.C., she is a member of Holland & Knight's Private Wealth Services Group and draws on her experience in nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations law as well as corporate compliance.

Before joining Holland & Knight, she worked in-house at an international private foundation that makes grants and impact investments to support nonprofits. She also worked as a legal aide for the New York State Charities Bureau. Those roles give Emma perspective on charitable giving from the funder and regulatory sides as well as the nonprofit side.

Emma is also a trained mediator. During law school, she mediated in New York City Small Claims Court and interned in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Office of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. That training complements her advocacy, giving clients additional paths to resolve estate matters efficiently.
