Overview

Jennifer Hananoki is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office and a member of the Public Policy & Regulation Group. Ms. Hananoki focuses her practice on Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, regulatory strategy and federal healthcare law.

Ms. Hananoki is experienced in reimbursement policy under the Medicare program, including the Physician Fee Schedule (PFS), Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment Systems (OPPS), Inpatient Prospective Payments Systems (IPPS) and value-based payment models, and she regularly advises clients on coding, coverage and payment issues. Ms. Hananoki is particularly experienced in helping clients respond to regulatory changes, optimize reimbursement strategies and engage effectively with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

In addition, Ms. Hananoki has a significant background in collaborating across the healthcare ecosystem to identify opportunities for advancing aligned policy objectives, particularly during the federal rulemaking cycle. She also has in-depth knowledge of the Resource-Based Relative Value Scale (RBRVS) used to assign relative value units for medical services. Ms. Hananoki translates complex regulatory requirements into practical guidance, anticipates policy trends and supports decision-making in the highly regulated and rapidly evolving healthcare sector.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Hananoki was director of federal affairs for the largest association of physicians and medical students in the U.S., where she played a key role in developing and interpreting Medicare payment policies. Previously, she worked in government affairs for the nation's largest professional association dedicated to the business of medical practice management. She also served as an adjunct professor at George Mason University School of Law and advised law journal editors.

While in law school, Ms. Hananoki served as editor-in-chief of the George Mason University Civil Rights Law Journal. She also founded the Health Law Society and served as its president.

Not yet admitted to District of Columbia Bar; admitted to Virigina Bar only and practicing under supervision of lawyers licensed to practice in the District of Columbia.
