Thu N. Lam

Thu Lam is a tax attorney in Holland & Knight's Philadelphia office. Ms. Lam represents clients in all aspects of state and local tax planning and controversy matters and regularly advises clients on state and local tax matters involving corporate and personal income, franchise, gross receipts, and sales and use taxes.

Ms. Lam serves privately held and large publicly traded businesses across a broad range of industries, including technology, banking, financial services, healthcare, consumer products and insurance. She has significant experience advising clients on state tax planning matters, including review of state nexus, sales sourcing and apportionment, taxability and filing methodologies. She also advises clients on state and local tax due diligence in transactional matters such as mergers, acquisitions and restructurings. In tax controversy matters, Ms. Lam represents clients in state tax audits, before administrative review bodies and in court.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Lam was an attorney at a multi-practice, tax-focused law firm in its Philadelphia office. She has also served as a tax manager with a multinational accounting firm.

During law school, Ms. Lam was a judicial intern for the late Honorable Sterling Johnson Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and was a member of the New York City Law Review.
