Overview

Michael Mabee is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office, where he focuses his practice on real estate finance matters. Mr. Mabee represents financial institutions on a wide array of commercial real estate lending matters, including the acquisition, financing, refinancing and disposition of multifamily, office, retail, student housing and industrial properties. He leads teams on various types of transactions, including fixed-rate, floating rate, mezzanine and construction transactions.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Mabee was an attorney with an Am Law 100 firm in South Dakota.

While in law school, he was the editor-in-chief of the South Dakota Law Review.

Not yet admitted to District of Columbia Bar; admitted to South Dakota Bar and Utah Bar only and practicing under supervision of lawyers licensed to practice in the District of Columbia.

Representative Experience

  • Represented a multinational independent investment bank in a $34.7 million note-on-note financing transaction on a multitenant industrial property
  • Represented a multinational independent investment bank in a $41 million term loan in a multistate storage facility portfolio across Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio and South Carolina
  • Represented a private real estate investment lender in portfolio transactions totaling $181 million involving the acquisition/refinance of single-family rental homes spanning several states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Georgia
  • Represented an international commercial bank in a $140 million construction loan for student housing
  • Represented a full-service commercial bank in a $4.2 million financing for the purchase of high-rise condominium in New York
  • Represented a full-service commercial bank in a $8 million mezzanine loan for the refinancing of three high-rise condominium units in New York
  • Represented a full-service commercial bank in a $14 million refinancing of existing loans for a luxury condo project with 154 residential units
  • Represented a large regional consumer bank in a $30 million construction loan for an industrial warehouse
  • Represented a large national association bank in a $145 million syndicated transaction involving two lenders, with funds used for the acquisition of three office buildings
