Overview
Cindy Ohlenforst is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Dallas office. Ms. Ohlenforst's broad tax practice involves planning and controversy work nationwide. She has extensive experience in state and local taxation matters, including tax controversy, litigation and administrative proceedings, as well as legislative work.
Ms. Ohlenforst's extensive experience encompasses advising on multistate and federal tax issues, including income, sales, franchise, property, hotel and other taxes. In the tax controversy and litigation realm, she defends clients in class actions brought by taxing authorities. Ms. Ohlenforst's transactional work includes negotiating contracts, financing deals and corporate reorganizations.
Additionally, Ms. Ohlenforst handles tax-related legislative and policy initiatives, drafting legislation and providing testimony before legislative committees. In addition to handling legislative projects in various states, she has worked alongside legislators to draft multiple provisions to the Texas Tax Code.
Ms. Ohlenforst regularly assists clients in the energy, technology, broadcasting, transportation and airline industries.
A frequent speaker, Ms. Ohlenforst has presented at the annual meeting for Council on State Taxation (COST), as well as to the American Bar Association (ABA), State Bar of Texas advanced tax programs, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and multiple continuing legal education (CLE) and industry events.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Ohlenforst was an attorney at a global law firm.
While in law school, Ms. Ohlenforst was a leading articles editor for the Southwestern Law Journal. She graduated first in her law school class.
