Overview

Kathryn "Kate" Robinson is a seasoned real estate and business attorney in Holland & Knight's Portland and Seattle offices. Ms. Robinson focuses her practice on the multifamily housing sector.

With two decades of experience, Ms. Robinson brings a sophisticated understanding of multifamily housing transactions and capital markets to her practice. She is known for her strategic and business-focused counsel and meticulous execution of complex multifamily transactions, as well as representing clients in the multifamily industry in a variety of their corporate and operational matters. Ms. Robinson primarily advises sponsors, owner/operators and investors on a variety of complex real estate, finance and corporate matters. Her extensive experience spans acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, real estate funds, agency lending (Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae), tax-exempt bonds, securitized and syndicated lending and mezzanine lending. Ms. Robinson also counsels clients on corporate governance, strategic growth initiatives and corporate structuring.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Robinson was a partner at a Seattle-based firm, where she led real estate and finance transactions. Her transition to Holland & Knight in 2025 marked a strategic expansion of its West Coast real estate capabilities. Ms. Robinson played a key role in the launch of the Seattle office and has been actively involved in integration efforts, including mentoring new attorneys and collaborating across offices. She spent the early part of her career in New York City, working in residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) and borrower-side finance.

In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Robinson is deeply engaged and holds leadership positions in professional and community organizations. She currently serves on the executive committee for Transition Projects Inc. and is a member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Seattle, CREW Portland, the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Washington State Bar Association. She has served on the board of the Seattle Public Theater and CREW Seattle and also contributes to Holland & Knight's Women's Engagement Network.

Representative Experience

  • Representation of a national real estate investment, development and operating company in its $400.8 million portfolio acquisition of 903 units across five multifamily properties in Washington, in partnership with three separate institutional investors
  • Representation of a national real estate investment, development and operating company in connection with the $80.4 million sale of a six-story, 249-unit mixed-use multifamily community in Seattle, comprising 202,400 square feet of residential space and 8,200 square feet of retail
  • Represented a national real estate investment, development and operating company in its $88 million sale of a 265-unit apartment complex in Oregon to an investment firm
  • Represented a national real estate investment, development and operating company, in partnership with a publicly traded global industry leader specializing in life and health reinsurance and financial solutions, in the $34.75 million acquisition and financing of a 100-unit multifamily property in Washington
