Do you know how the health care reform act will affect your business? The health care reform act (formally known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) contains numerous mandates affecting employers. One such mandate requires businesses with more than 50 employees to offer group health coverage to full-time employees. Other mandates include specific group health plan design changes that generally are effective in the next year.

Looking beyond employer mandates, the new law encompasses wholesale revamping of the rules governing small employer-provided insurance and significant changes for the large employer market. In addition, there is a variety of tax and other provisions that present opportunities for small, medium and large businesses. Some of the less publicized provisions of the legislation offer certain enterprises a special opportunity for growth.
