Topics and Presenters

Email Use and Abuse

Email has changed the way we communicate, conduct business and spend time during the work day. It has also created significant challenges and risks for employers. Rob Vyverberg will discuss various electronic communications policies and procedures as well as some of the applicable laws that impact these policies and procedures. His presentation will also address strategies for encouraging appropriate emails and monitoring email activity. Mr. Vyverberg will also discuss valuable "oh no" and "I can't believe I sent that" lessons employers have learned the hard way.

Labor and Employment Round-Up

Associates Jen Froehlich and Adam Young will present hypothetical scenarios addressing hiring, religious and disability accommodations, performance management and workplace investigations.

Affordable Care Act

Ken Jenero and Phil Schreiber will address time-sensitive issues under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). For those employers seeking to comply with the ACA, many obligations must be satisfied by January 1, 2014. We will benchmark where employers should be at this point in time and what they need to accomplish before year-end 2013. Our attorneys will also provide important information on the cost of compliance so that informed decisions can be made on whether to comply by January 1, 2014, comply at a later date or not comply at all.
