Private Wealth Services attorneys Stacie Chau and Jia-Hua Wang will speak at the Hawaii Tax Institute's China-U.S. Alliance Program, sponsored by the Hawaii Tax Institute Foundation and Chaminade University of Honolulu. This premier tax and wealth transfer conference offers professional development and educational opportunities for practitioners across the globe.
Ms. Wang will join a session on pre-immigration and post-immigration planning for Chinese national families. Speakers will share asset protection methods that will help clients safeguard business interests, real property and financial investments prior to coming to the United States. They will additionally review the scenario in which one spouse maintains Chinese nationality status and the other obtains a green card or U.S. passport and explain how to choose governing law controlling marital property.
Ms. Chau will present on high-stakes, cross-border wealth transfer litigation involving Chinese national families. She will highlight areas of conflict being litigated, including the importance of venue, and outline how to approach cases involving multiple jurisdictions.
