NIMBYism and YIMBYism: Navigating Community Stakeholders to Meet Housing Needs

West Coast Land Use and Environment attorney Chelsea Maclean will moderate a panel at the Urban Land Institute's (ULI) 2025 Fall Meeting in San Francisco, California. The three-day conference convenes thousands of real estate professionals from across the world, from developers and architects to investors and executives, to talk about new developments shaping the future of the built environment. Ms. Maclean's session will take place on the final day of the program and will focus on the influence of community advocacy and activism in housing development. Speakers will touch on Not in My Backyard (NIMBY) and Yes in My Backyard (YIMBY) attitudes, community feedback, environmental review processes and community benefit agreements, using California as a case study.
