Trade Litigation attorney Ashley Akers will participate in the U.S. Court of International Trade's 23rd Judicial Conference, taking place in Arlington, Virginia. The yearly program addresses emerging trends and topics affecting administration and business at the court and features judges, lawyers, academic experts and government representatives among its speakers and attendees. Ashley will join a panel taking a look back at the turn of the century, when the CIT resolved multiple appeals that concerned import-related issues of first impression arising under U.S. environmental and labor laws. She will examine the legal and policy foundation for these laws, historical context of the lawsuits, and procedural and substantive issues raised in more recent litigation. The session will offer a comprehensive review of the court's past decisions while previewing future disputes that could come before it.
