Building Your Future at Holland & Knight: Michael Amy's Lateral Move and Mentorship Experience

Maritime attorney Michael Amy discusses his lateral move to Holland & Knight after serving as counsel to the chair and then-commissioner of the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC). He is experienced in maritime law litigation and provides regulatory advice related to international trade, particularly focused on U.S. Shipping Act matters. In this video, he shares his mentorship experience and what he appreciates about the firm.

"There's just kind of unrivaled support here for laterals to pursue their own individual goals and have the support of, you know, a world-class large firm to be able to do that," Mr. Amy explained.

Michael Amy: One incredible thing about being in the maritime field is that no two cases or issues are the same. So every day is a new problem to tackle, a new issue to solve for our clients.

Holland & Knight's reputation preceded itself for me. I certainly knew of the high-caliber attorneys who are here, particularly in the maritime group. And my expectations have been really far exceeded.

I was assigned a partner mentor when I started, and he's helping me get integrated into the firm and been really an invaluable resource, both personally and professionally. There's just kind of unrivaled support here for laterals to pursue their own individual goals and have the support of, you know, a world-class large firm to be able to do that.
