What Has Happened to the "New Mining Law?"

Mining attorney Manuel José Ocampo published an article in Asuntos Legales about the uncertainty surrounding the draft of the "Mining Law for a Just Energy Transition, National Reindustrialization, and Mining for Life." Despite having been published by the Ministry of Mines and Energy more than six months ago, the bill has not yet been presented to Congress for legislative processing, raising doubts about the future of the mining industry in the country. Mr. Ocampo highlights that, although the draft is in the process of consultation with ethnic subjects, the lack of information on the development of these consultations does not favor the mining sector, which needs to know the details of a bill that would substantially modify the way mining is understood and developed in Colombia.
