Sanctions from the Superintendency of Corporations
Corporate attorney Michelle Sperling wrote an article for Lexir detailing new efforts from Colombian authorities to ensure that companies comply with country-specific regulations. In particular, the Superintendency of Corporations has begun imposing sanctions on companies that adopt global corporate policies based on where they are headquartered without complying with Colombian requirements. Ms. Sperling highlights some cases in which the superintendency fined corporations for not implementing a Business Transparency and Ethics Program (PTEE), as well as offers advice for companies in the Colombian market.
