Impactos de una nueva Reforma Tributaria
Tax attorney Rafael Lafont wrote a column for El Heraldo reflecting on the effects of Colombia's tax reform. The Finance Bill seeks to recover $16.3 billion pesos and introduces provisions related to the income tax while at the same time making permanent temporary measures such as the value-added tax (VAT) on online sportsbook and betting platforms. Mr. Lafont expresses that the changes represent greater pressure on natural persons and fundamental sectors as a result of higher rates and that they will have adverse implications for investment and employment generation.
