DOJ Using John Doe Summonses to Collect Information on Behalf of Norway

The Department of Justice has recently attempted to obtain John Doe summonses to gather information about Norwegian taxpayers with U.S. bank accounts. Taxation Partner Kevin Packman says these actions are related to the global push for the increased exchange of information among nations and that it demonstrates the U.S. is willing to fight against tax evasion.

"We are returning the favor to some extent," said Mr. Packman.
