Vendors Fret Over New Public Records Requirements for State Contracts
A provision in a new Florida law has vendors who do work with contractors concerned about added costs and legal implications. Under HB 1309, vendors in state contracts are required to maintain public records related to the contract and must provide them on a technology platform that is compatible with the agency involved. Government Contracts Partner Karen Walker represents several clients with state contracts and believes the new requirement will drive up costs.
"Contractors are going to have to look at things like -- they're going to have to maintain electronic public records in the same format as agencies," Ms. Walker said.
