Getting a drone for Christmas? Here's how to stay out of trouble with the law
New Federal Aviation Administration regulations dictate new owners of drones—there may be many more after this Christmas—must register their drones before flying them. Regulators have already had close calls with drones entering restricted airspace or flying too close to aircraft, which is part of the reason for this new registration process.
Attorney Joel Roberson said making drone users register is hardly a high-tech solution to that problem, but it's meant to make them more accountable for what they do in the air.
