PPACA employer mandate may start two-step fights

Companies are starting to contact their lawyers in regards to employer mandate penalty administrative appeals. Employers that fail to offer any health coverage may be fined up to $2,000 or $3,000 for every full-time employee who uses Medicaid or advanced premium tax credits. Little information has been provided on what the daily routine of an employer mandate appeal lawyer may be like.

"We really don't know a lot about the employer appeals process," said Nicole Elliott, a public policy attorney and former IRS senior adviser for the Affordable Care Act. Ms. Elliott describes the PPACA tax administration as a whole as "huge" and said "you just pull a string, and there's more and more."
