‘Swamped’ attorneys racing to keep up with changes

Partner Tom Hill was quoted in a Los Angeles Business Journal article about how the increasing workload for employment law attorneys and firms has affected the practice area. Sudden changes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic mean attorneys and firms have had to adapt business models and put in more unbillable hours as they attempt to keep up with new federal and state regulations as well as the rapidly rising demand for legal guidance. Mr. Hill attributed the increased workload to the extraordinary circumstances confronting employers.

"It's pretty rare for essentially every employer in the country to be facing issues arising out of the same condition at the same time," he said. "...The advice and counsel side has spiked, gone through the roof."
