2023: A Year That Does Not Look Good for Ecopetrol

Energy attorney Inés Elvira Vesga was interviewed by El Colombiano about the future of Ecopetrol, the largest oil company in Colombia, in response to the plans of the current administration. Colombian President Gustavo Petro has insisted that there will be no new contracts for exploration due to the proposed decarbonization policies. Ms. Vesga explained what Colombians must take into account regarding the proposed changes and the possible effects on Ecopetrol's productivity.

"The oil industry has set off the alarms before the announcements that the national government has made on various fronts, and Ecopetrol is the clear example that it would receive the greatest impact, since in addition to being the largest operator, its financial results directly affect the country's assets," she said.
