DOL Secretary Walsh's Exit Could Shift Focus to Wage Issues

Law360

Labor, Employment and Benefits attorney Timothy Taylor was quoted in a Law360 article about the forthcoming exit of the U.S Department of Labor's (DOL) Secretary Marty Walsh. After the announcement that Walsh was going to leave the DOL, attorneys and several federal government observers expressed that the next person in the role could shift the department's priorities. Under Walsh, the focus has been around trade union issues, but it is expected to change toward wages and hour matters. Mr. Taylor said that despite this situation, the DOL must do what it can to ease the transition.

"During a transition, the deadlines don't stop, the agenda doesn't stop," Mr. Taylor said. "It's critical to just keep the trains moving."
