Lawmakers Urge DHS to Ease Employment Visa Backlog
Immigration attorney Leon Fresco spoke with Law360 about the Biden Administration's proposed fix for those who are seeking employment-based visas. Lawmakers are urging the Biden Administration to allow those who are seeking employment-based visas but being held up by green card backlogs to apply for permanent residency sooner.
"This proposal is absolutely critical to the quality of life of high-skilled immigrants in the green card backlog — who currently face huge obstacles to do basic things we all take for granted such as changing jobs or being able to visit terminally ill relatives," Mr. Fresco explained.
The fix proposed might not fast-track permanent residency for those stuck in the backlog, but it would give them much-needed flexibility, he added.
