What's Going on in Fulton? 121,000 Cases Cleared

Daily Report

Atlanta litigation attorney Patrick Reagin was mentioned in a Daily Report article about the progress of Fulton County's Project Orca in resolving pandemic-imposed case backlogs. The initiative has cleared 121,266 cases as of December 2023, with a decline in resolution speed noted toward the end of the year. Mr. Reagin credited the improved disposition rates to a procedural crackdown, including shorter trial setting notices and a reduction in routinely granted continuances, prompting parties to actively assess cases for resolution.

“Continuances, that during the COVID years might have been granted routinely or as a matter of course, are being less freely granted without a showing of good cause,” he said.
