Using the Law to Protect Health Care Access
Healthcare attorney and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health alumni Jacob Barrera was featured in an article on the school's website discussing how and why attorneys play such an important role in protecting healthcare infrastructure and workforces. In the article, Mr. Barrera shares how he developed a passion for public health and why using the power of the law to protect health access is so critical, especially for marginalized individuals and communities.
Mr. Barrera stated that in an era when public health challenges are increasingly contested and politicized, "It is critical, now more than ever, to collaborate and have conversations across advocacy, policy and law...because it’s so important to address issues from an interdisciplinary standpoint. Neglecting to do this or letting siloes get in the way, slows our progress. There is so much we can do, working together, to impact public health and the communities that we serve."
