Public Policy & Regulation Group Leader Rich Gold was cited in a Politico Influence article recapping a strong second quarter for lobbying firms in Washington, D.C. Holland & Knight was among several organizations whose lobbying revenues increased during Q2 of 2024 — $13.2 million versus $12.4 million in Q1 — which contrasts the typical election year slowdown. Mr. Gold noted clients have been raising questions about the type of regulatory environment businesses could expect under a new administration, keeping K Street busy. He added that companies have been focused on funds from legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS and Science Act and bipartisan infrastructure law, trying to gauge how much of that funding could be clawed back if Donald Trump returned to the White House.
"I think the swing back between the two parties at this point, with a change potentially in the executive branch, makes major companies really start a lot earlier than they otherwise would," he said. "We used to sort of start this like in September, and now... we really started in April."
