Colombia Should Get Behind the Technological Modernization to Achieve Energy Goals
Energy & Natural Resources attorney Inés Elvira Vesga was interviewed by IT Sitio about the importance of regulatory compliance and technological modernization for adequate energy management. Ms. Vesga explained that Colombia has various laws that promote energy management, among them Resolution 101042 of 2024, which establishes a system of incentives for the efficient use of energy through a tariff schedule. She also highlighted that companies that do not invest in technology can face problems including elevated operative costs and a decrease in profitability and competitiveness, underscoring that getting behind in this field has significant consequences for achieving energy goals.
"The key is to design personalized sustainability programs, aligned with the objectives of senior management," she said. "The efficiency begins with the basics: Turn off what is not needed and disconnect equipment not in use. It is a cultural shift, but it has a significant impact."
