Trump Connections Give Edge to Big Law Firms Seeking Influence
Public Policy & Regulation attorneys Tom Davis and Rich Gold were quoted in a Bloomberg Law article highlighting the strategic positioning of law firms with ties to President-elect Donald Trump. Mr. Davis discussed the changing dynamics within firms regarding support for Trump, noting a shift toward active lobbying with Republicans. Mr. Gold talked about Holland & Knight's Florida roots, having been founded there and headquartered in Miami, saying these connections will facilitate relationships and discussions with a transition team that has deep connections to the state.
"At other firms, it was like a hate crime to donate to Trump — they're having to reorient. Now they are out there trying to recruit Republicans," Mr. Davis said.
"We know a lot of the folks from the time they were starting out in their political careers. The pipeline for lawmakers starts at the local city council level and moves up through state legislature to Congress," Mr. Gold said.
