Trump Embraces Washington 'Swamp' with Roster of Lobbyist Hires
Bloomberg Law
Rich Gold, leader of the firm's Public Policy & Regulation Group, was quoted in a Bloomberg Law article about President-Elect Donald Trump's approach to hiring lobbyists for high-level positions in his incoming administration. The article discussed the shift from previous administrations' restrictions on hiring lobbyists to Trump's more open stance, which has led to nearly a dozen former federal lobbyists being tapped for top jobs. Mr. Gold offered his perspective on this change, noting the potential advantages of incorporating individuals with diverse professional backgrounds into the executive branch.
"To be honest, you have to applaud the Trump Administration, not for every nominee, but he is picking probably the most diverse cabinet in terms of background and experience that we've seen in a while," he said. "You need to have debates around things and need to have a variety of voices around the table in order to make the best decisions for the people that elected you."
