Colombia Will Have Another Regasification Plant by 2026
Energy & Natural Resources attorney Milton Montoya was interviewed by Vanguardia about the construction of a new regasification plant in the Pacific region in Colombia. The state oil company Ecopetrol announced the award of the first contract for the plant, which will have a capacity of 60 million cubic feet per day and will begin operation in the first trimester of 2026. Mr. Montoya commented this new plant will strengthen the country's ability to manage imports of natural gas.
"That plant will serve as another entry point for our country, especially to handle the demand from the interior of the country," he said. "This will happen because the Spec plant in the Caribbean does not have enough capacity to meet all of the demand for natural gas."
