Ex-GOP Lawmaker: Medicaid Cuts Politically Risky

A budget passed by the House includes $880 billion in cuts, most of which would affect the joint state and federal healthcare coverage program. Mr. Bucshon talked about the complexity of political and financial considerations surrounding Medicaid changes, saying lawmakers could face significant pushback from states that rely on the program to help provide coverage for more than 70 million low-income Americans. He also commented on other healthcare issues expected to be addressed in Congress this year, including the enhanced premium subsidies for low and middle-income individuals on Obamacare, which he predicts a deal being struck on.
