Oil Reserves in Latin America Leave Little Margin and Force Accelerated Exploration

Bloomberg Línea
Energy & Natural Resources attorney Milton Montoya was mentioned in an article published by Bloomberg Línea about the rapid decline of proven oil reserves in Latin America and the urgency to increase exploration to ensure the region's energy and economic stability. The article highlighted that, excluding Venezuela, the reserve-to-production ratio in several Latin American countries is less than 10 years, which could lead to supply issues in the short and medium term if exploration investments do not intensify. Mr. Montoya emphasized the importance of carefully assessing current market conditions and factors that influence investment to determine the future of hydrocarbons in the region.

"It is not entirely clear what the outlook will be for international demand for fossil fuels, especially hydrocarbons (...). What is certain is this: If there is no investment in exploration, there will be no discoveries," he said.
