Why Is Sunscreen in the U.S. So Mid?

Public Policy & Regulation attorney Joel Roberson was quoted in a New York Magazine article exploring why the quality of U.S. sunscreens often lags far behind international products. He explained that, although sunscreen technology has rapidly advanced worldwide, outdated U.S. regulations and testing requirements have halted innovation and limited access to safer, more effective ultraviolet (UV) radiation filters. As a result, American sunscreens often fail to meet global standards, particularly for protecting against harmful UVA rays.

"When you think about how much technological evolution has happened since the original iPod to the supercomputers we have in our pockets today, the same has happened with sunscreens – just not in the United States," Mr. Roberson said.
