Energy Advisor, The Dialogue
Energy & Natural Resources Partner Inés Elvira Vesga was featured in a Q&A with The Dialogue's Energy Advisor discussing Ecopetrol's acquisition of the Windpeshi wind farm in La Guajira and its potential to advance Colombia's wind energy sector. She highlighted that Ecopetrol's established relationships with government entities and indigenous Wayuu communities position the company to better navigate local opposition that previously stalled projects, emphasizing the importance of trust-building through social investment and state-backed community development.
"To achieve large-scale wind power production from La Guajira by the end of the decade, the most viable path involves robust, good-faith consultation with local communities, equitable benefit-sharing mechanisms and integrated development plans that address both energy and social needs," she said.
