Labor Reform: Workers Will Have Important Change Upon Leaving a Company
Labor and employment attorney Camilo Cuervo was cited in Valora Analitik commenting on a provision in Colombia's new labor reform that requires employees to provide at least 30 days' notice of their decision to resign or voluntarily leave a job. Even though the regulation does not include penalties, it marks an important shift for workers, who until now could resign at a moment's notice. Mr. Cuervo highlighted that the goal of this change is to encourage best practices in the country's labor sector.
"The reforms seeks to promote better labor practices, but it cannot force anyone to stay in a job that they do not want," he said. "The warning is a recommendation that seeks to facilitate an ordered transition."
