SALT Cap Fix in Pennsylvania Stalled by Tax Complexity, Budget
Bloomberg Tax
Tax attorney Jennifer Karpchuk was quoted in a Bloomberg Tax article about Pennsylvania's ongoing challenges in creating a workaround to the federal cap on state and local tax (SALT) deductions. The article discussed how the state's complex tax code and stalled budget have prevented the adoption of a pass-through entity tax (PTET), leaving Pennsylvania behind most other states that have implemented similar measures. Ms. Karpchuk, who co-chairs the firm's State and Local Tax Team, emphasized that without legislative action, Pennsylvania will remain at a disadvantage compared its neighbors.
"If Pennsylvania does not enact a PTET, it will continue to find itself without a workaround that the majority of states have enacted," she said.
