How Real Estate Attorneys Are Tapping into Tech
Innovation attorney Joe Dewey was featured in a Law360 article exploring how real estate attorneys are embracing emerging technology such as artificial intelligence (AI) and taking advantage of new tools to enhance their practice. Although the real estate industry has historically been deemed slow to adapt, Mr. Dewey said he has noticed an uptick in the use of generative AI across the legal profession, including real estate, as its benefits have become more widely known. For example, attorneys can use AI models to cross-reference survey images with title commitments and descriptions or draft documents and provide suggestions for specific contractual provisions more favorable to a client – all of which saves lawyers time, particularly on tedious tasks that do not require heavy legal analysis. More than, speed, however, he cited the benefit of improving the quality of work-product, explaining that he and other Holland & Knight attorneys have been running final documents through AI to check for inconsistencies or other small errors.
"I feel like I have a second set of eyes looking over everything, which is pretty valuable," he commented.
