Olympic Boulevard Builder's Remedy Projects Move Forward
West Coast Land Use and Environment attorney Ryan Leaderman was quoted in a Beverly Hills Courier article about the Beverly Hills Planning Commission's conditional approval of three Builder's Remedy mixed-use projects at or near Olympic Boulevard and South Beverly Drive. The developments, which range from eight to 13 stories and collectively add 315 homes with reserved low-income units, advance under California's Builder's Remedy while incorporating conditions on noise, hours of use and privacy barriers. At the meeting where the projects were approved, Mr. Leaderman commented on the city's careful review and contextualized the developments within larger goals of addressing the state's housing shortage.
"We appreciate staff's diligence and the city attorney's diligence as well, with respect to the project. As you know, we're in a housing crisis. The city's population has actually decreased over the past 50 years, and with that in mind, that's one of the reasons why we have to strengthen housing laws right now," he said.
