Congress Flails on Obamacare Subsidies
Healthcare & Life Sciences Team Co-Leader Michael Werner was quoted in the Washington Post Intelligence on the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA)'s move toward approving bemotrizinol, which would be the first new sunscreen active ingredient cleared in the United States in more than 25 years. Speaking on behalf of our client, the Public Access to SunScreens Coalition, he emphasized the significance of expanding access to more effective, broad-spectrum UV filters that are already widely used abroad and could improve skin cancer prevention and overall sun safety for U.S. consumers. He also noted that aligning U.S. standards with other major markets would give manufacturers more flexibility to bring innovative, science-backed products to American shelves.
Mr. Werner called it, "historic actions, which represents a monumental step forward for public health in the United States."
