Distinguished Leaders: Andres Fernandez, Holland & Knight

Daily Business Review

Financial Services attorney Andres Fernandez was featured in a Q&A with the Daily Business Review as one of its 2026 Distinguished Leaders honorees. In the interview, Mr. Fernandez reflected on both his professional work advising international financial institutions on Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money laundering and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) matters, as well as his deeply personal advocacy for boater safety following the death of his daughter, Lucy. He discussed the passage of Lucy's Law, his leadership of the Miami-Dade Mayor's Boater Safety and Bay Education Task Force, and the values that continue to shape his approach to leadership in the legal profession.

"Hard work. You don't need to be the smartest person in the room, but you do need to be the hardest working. There are no shortcuts. Whether it's a long-term project or a short engagement, you need to stay with it to the finish line, even when the road is complicated, uncertain and unpredictable," he said.
