Should You Even Bother Making a Complaint to the CFPB?
Financial Services attorney Eamonn Moran was cited in U.S. News & World Report reacting to data on complaints filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and monetary relief provided to consumers. In 2025, Americans submitted more than 6.6 million complaints to the CFPB, a 108 percent increase from 2024, and received about $105 million in monetary relief, a 12 percent increase. The uptick in complaints came amid broader upheaval at the bureau, highlighted by reductions in force and budget cuts. Mr. Moran, a former attorney at the CFPB, shared insights into where federal financial regulatory and enforcement operations currently stand and how consumers should approach complaints.
