The Best Trial Prep Partner? It Might Have Four Legs
Intellectual Property (IP) attorney Justin Cohen was cited in an article published by Law.com about the role dogs can play in high-pressure legal settings such as trial preparation and court proceedings. According to the Courthouse Dogs Foundation, a growing number of courthouses keep specially trained dogs on site to comfort witnesses or victims, and even judges themselves are bringing their pets to work. The article narrated how Mr. Cohen brought Auggie, a certified therapy dog, to help his team prepare for a major patent trial in Waco, and explored how therapy dogs can reduce stress, improve focus and bring a sense of calm and connection to intense legal environments. Mr. Cohen commented on Auggie's impact during trial prep.
"He's a certified therapy dog, and so I take him to hospitals and other places for therapy dog visits. He was a significant help...great for the whole team to keep focused on the task at hand, reduce stress and be happier," he said.
