American Red Cross Honors Holland & Knight
LOS ANGELES – June 17, 2011 – Law firm Holland & Knight yesterday received an award from the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the American Red Cross in honor of its unique partnership with the emergency response organization, both in Los Angeles and nationwide. The award not only recognizes the firm's legal work on behalf of the Red Cross, but also its commitment to the organization's mission of providing humanitarian services and programs to those in need.
"Holland & Knight represents the American Red Cross on all trust and estate files naming it as a beneficiary. Its national headquarters has reported to us that, since our engagement, Red Cross's legacy income has more than doubled," said Holland & Knight attorney Tara Cooper, who along with partner Vito Costanzo heads up the Legacy File Program on the West Coast.
Highlighting Holland & Knight's dual partnership with the charity, Paul Schulz, CEO of the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region, said, "In addition to its legal representation, we have been equally impressed by the firm's generous support of the Red Cross's fundraising activities, most recently its $160,000 donation to our relief efforts in Japan following the devastating earthquake and tsunami. This award is our way of saying thank you."
"On behalf of everyone at Holland & Knight, I would like to express our gratitude to the American Red Cross for this honor," said Steven Sonberg, managing partner. "It is truly rewarding to serve an organization that is so admired across the country and around the world for all that it has done to prevent and relieve the suffering of millions at their time of greatest need. We look forward to a continued strong and fruitful partnership."
The award was presented at a ceremony held Thursday evening at Holland & Knight's Los Angeles office, which recently moved to the Mellon Bank Center.
